Another Fine, Wine Day in Boston

Going out of town? Looking for a belly-filling excursion or a fun restaurant to visit? I have just the place for you.

One of my favorite U.S. cities to visit is Boston. It’s clean and it smells nice… unlike another beloved city on the east coast, New York. I cannot say the same about this city’s aura. The nightlife is thriving and ever-changing, the stores and shopping remains hip and most importantly, the food, spirits and libations are EXCELLENT.

Cafeteria Boston provided us with such a delicious dinner, we went back for lunch the next day. One thing I have learned from my experience at restaurants, is that when an establishment sells beer, margaritas or sangria in pitchers… they mean BUSINESS. Leah, a girlfriend of mine, and I opted for a pitcher of the red sangria. This delectable libation was aged with brandy and red wine and contained a combination of peaches, oranges and apples. Sweeter than my normal preference, it was chilled and quite refreshing for a long and tiresome day of shopping (she said jokingly).

We both decided we were craving pasta and each of us ordered the pappardelle bolognese. It was mouthwatering and we couldn’t get enough it… I considered licking the bowl. Fortunately, my ethical and morally forward parents taught me that licking the bowl is not in fact ladylike. Ugh.

Fan favorite, always and forever, is SHAKE SHACK. Have you heard of it? If not, you haven’t been living! But, I forgive you. Leah and I brought along a friend of ours, Macy, who was a Shake Shack virgin. Needless to say, she’s eternally grateful for the treat we gave her tastebuds.

PSA: Shake Shack serves alcohol. I had been to the Boston Shake Shake earlier this year, in the wintertime, on a lovely trip with my boyfriend in which he captured this image:

If you have not already fallen in love with Boston, one trip around this magical city will have you wanting to move here. I definitely recommend.

Hm, that’s a good question. I think sangria can definitely fall under the wine umbrella, however, because it has brandy, a harder alcohol in it, it’s definitely adverse – to a dry wine for example. Sweet doesn’t normally do it for me, but this was too refreshing to pass up.

Wait… so you went to all these amazing food places and didn’t invite me? I’m like the ultimate foodie. Regardless, your food pictures are great and make me want to go back.

Great post, as always! Still dreaming about Cafeteria Boston and Shake Shack. The pasta, the drinks, the atmosphere, unbeatable. Next time we go we will have to get alcohol to combat the cold weather. After all, alcohol is the best jacket!

Lauren, the pictures on your posts are amazing and have made me add Boston to my list of places that I would like to visit. I happen to be a Shake Shack virgin as well, although I have walked past it in New York city. But i am definitely going there next time.
